I cried this morning, briefly. It was a fast lump-in-throat moment— but I have gotten pretty good at moving through these quickly.
On May 5, my son was taken off of LOP (Loss of Privileges) status. Finally.
After 9 months of spending every day, all day locked in a cell with no daily access to fresh air, no phone calls, no TV, no programming, no job— he has seen the sun. As of Monday, he now gets 2 hours a day in the yard and he can call me during that time. We still don’t get visits, but we can talk on the phone.
This morning my son called and we had a regular, unhurried, happy conversation about his new routine. He wakes at 6 am, makes coffee (thank YOU for that), reads a book, and then waits for his cell door to be opened so that he can go out to the yard. He gets in a morning workout and then heads back inside to shower and eat.
