I will walk in your parade, follow a chat and attend a book club. You are, to me, offering to lead a group to find understanding and I’m always down for that 🤗❤️
It's not just reading about the "dirt parade." These are great sentences (for example):
"I’ll be damned if he isn’t all over the county big as a building, smirking down at me in victory."
"Somehow, I signed myself up to wave atop a slow moving bed of tangled chicken wire and tissue paper pom-poms holding a sign that says “Ms. Prison Mom 2025!” #Winning #GoTeam #SmallTownBigHeart."
I'm all for chatting about the book recs, am always looking for more to read, especially though not exclusively stuff I can also teach about, and love chatting ideas, too.
Two of my favorite “wrote itself” moments during the creating of this post. Thank you so much for pointing them out-- it means a ton to me. Stay tuned for more connection here!
My suggestion for Misfit Lit is “The Sentence” by Louise Erdrich (2021). The title is an intended pun on a prison sentence, a sentence in a note, and another scrap of writing left behind by a ghost. Like most of LE’s novels, this one includes Native Americans and metaphysical experiences. Clever storytelling, and generally positive given the social justice issues.
First, dirt parade is a great phrase. Second, I love the honesty in your writing.💕
Thank you for the book recommendation-I’d totally join a monthly zoom or another format for a book club discussion, especially on topics like this one.

Yes!! Any conversation you’re in— I’m in. Stay tuned as I hash this next ‘thing’ out.

As my Dad would tell us
Do Not Talk !!!!! He was a cop .

This one is on my to-read list! The list is long but this just got bumped up, along with @KellyThompson's share!

Awesome! Stay tuned. I'm totally into launching it.
Dirt parade is a great phrase.
TY. Maybe it should be the title on my book. 😉
Awwwwwwesome! I’ve got a book rec for your list. I’ll dm. 😃
Such a GREAT pick.
I interviewed her for one of her other books. She’s an amazing woman.
I ordered the book 📕 Thanks for the referral 🙏
You bet!
Yes, you have the right or should I say you should and must remain silent!!!!
100%!!!!
You paint pictures in my mind with your writing. It is too good not
to find a publisher! I appreciate a good read recommendation. I used to
love visiting your bookstore in Jackson. Why don't communities
cherish bookstores, even if we have to have bake sales to keep them
open?
👀 Looking for that publisher! And I'm open to providing for a bake sale.
